Northern lights & reindeer
A magic night with silence and reindeer, chasing the Northern lights – a well-known phenomenon in Sami mythology.
Far away from the city lights, in a small Sami village outside Kiruna, you will encounter some reindeer in a corral. We will make an outing (sitting in a sled drawn by a snow mobile) in the dark and wintry countryside onto the frozen river, with an awesome panorama view of the sky. We will make several stops and enjoy the silence and darkness, hoping to spot the Aurora borealis - or Guovssahasat as we say in Sami. During this tour you will hear many stories regarding Sami mythology and history. Even without the Aurora this is a true experience of the wilderness in Lapland in the wintertime and an encounter with reindeer. At the end of the tour we’ll relax around the fire in a Sami tepee and enjoy a warm meal with coffee or tea.
